Happy New Year and a warm welcome to my best wedding photography 2017 blog.
Whether it’s old friends who’ve finally decided to tie the knot, Tinder first dates that became something amazing or a last minute ceremony in hospital, there’s been a lot to feel this year.
While chasing good light and interesting shapes, feelings are too often underrated in photography. They clue you in that something special might be about to happen. It’s so important to tune in as a reportage photographer because you can’t go stacking the deck to your liking.
Inspired by groups online, I’ve made a conscious effort to branch out and meet more of my peers in person. We geeked out together over all the new toys at The Societies photography conference. We exchanged ideas and were inspired by world class photographers at Elevate 2017. Being part of this generous community has been a profoundly rewarding experience. I’ve also met some brilliant new suppliers out in the field, doing their thing. Always great fun bumping into familiar faces and working alongside energetic musicians, talented videographers and creative catering crews.
2017 has been another whirlwind tour around the country, taking in a seaside wedding at East Quay in Whitstable, Froyle Park in Alton, Milton Abbey in Dorset and a beautiful wedding on the Isle Of Man. Back home in London, I shot my first weddings at the Chiswick House and The Dorchester.
It’s been an encouraging year for contests as well. Landing 1st place in two categories, I now rank in the Wedding Photojournalist Association’s top 3 best wedding photographers in London.
Time to stop waffling on and finish this up because you’re really here for the pictures! I hope you enjoy my best wedding photography 2017 gallery. Here’s to a hale and hearty 2018 – In an uncertain world, weddings are a brilliant tonic.
